Isabel: Women moved into the workplace. Hemlines in the 1920s are down to the ground, by 1925 they slowly start to raise up, hitting a peak at the knees, which is the highest the hemline has ever been in the history of fashionable women. They practically no waist, no natural anything, just a great big this. Later you get hip belt, ribbons, and such to emphasis lower parts. This was built for a slimmer woman and doesn't suit all figures. The woman's hair was very mannish, bob cut to suit them in the workplace. Women who had grey hair tinted it blue or mauve. Their hat were very small and close to the head. Sometimes trying to show a pot of flowers. There is a story: one very fashionable woman went to a party, she had a wide brim picture hat that she laid down. The host's dog ate the brim. Undeterred by this she puts the hat back on her head, and thats how the trend started.
