Western Minnesota Stream Threshers Reunion
Rollag, MN.Displays & EnginesI attended the Western Minnesota Stream Thresher's Reunion in Rollag on Sunday. I arrived early and stayed late. Even then I wasn't able to see everything on the expansive grounds. I rode the steam train to the Baker Depot, visited the Pioneer village, and watched the Horse Powered Threshing demonstration at the TOC Farmstead. I watched the Steam Traction Engine powered threshing, and fixed engine demonstrations. At 9:15 I photographed the Spark Show. A full day.
I shot some short 1-minute movies of the demonstrations and spark show.
The numbers in my descriptions reference the
WMSTR map. Many of the descriptions come from the marketing information on the
Rollag.com website or the WMSTR
Facebook page.
Style ShowFor the WMSTR 60th anniversary show, a Fashion show was held. They showed men, women, and children's clothing from 1880 to 1990. It was educational and fun. All the descriptions in this Style Show gallery were loosely transcribed from a recording I made during the show. All pronouns refer to or from the lady doing the narration. All errors are mine.
TractorsThis last year I've become interested in the history of Tractors in the US. Rollag is a great place to see many famous tractors- still running. I took photos of models that were unique, historic, or found on the Walter Maas farm. The descriptions come from the signs on the tractors. I also consulted "The Farm Tractor" by Ralph W. Sanders for my descriptions. Other descriptions are referenced in the descriptions. All errors are mine.. my knowledge on tractors is very limited.
Train & ConstructionThe WMSTR has its own railroad and steam locomotive. They also have a construction area with lots of old construction equipment including some steam shovels. Nothing like smoke, dirt, and clouds.
