Midland Continental Railroad
Dashed hopes didn't stop the Midland Continental Railroad. It hauled first hundreds then thousands. of passengers and carloads of freight a year between Edgeley lamestown. and Wimbledon For over half a century the independent, short-line, intrastate railroad provided service to the region and--through connecting lines the nation.

Struggles Turns To Success
The railroad have a hard time of it financially at first. Expenses were greater than revenues, and the Midland Continental Railroad, was not to earn an operating income for several years. It's severe over-capitalization, the value that Midland Continental Railroad officials had put on its stock and bonds were more than the actual value of the railroad, made it difficult to run in the black.
1916, under new ownership, Frank A. Seilbergling, the railroad got a new manager: Henry S. Stebbins. And the failing railroad began to succeed.
