Narr: 'Becca in a 1947 wedding dress donated by (?) in a suitcase labeled 'grandma's clothes'. Between the 1930 and the 1941 the waist goes back to normal. This a late 40s dress. After the fabric rationing of WW-II: what fabrics, how it was only a 2quot; #201; the skirts were much straighter much shorter. It took about two years after 1945 to get rationed material back into the market and get designers to work with them. This is typical of the new look established by Christian Dior in 1947. What is shows is a softening to the silhouette, so on her shoulders there is a slight patterning but its a sloped silhouette. The cups that were taken off of many of the women's outfits, you now have enlarged cups. Sometimes there would be a faux pocket. You have a very full skirt, there is a red slip underneath. Almost a 'Gibson Girl', and a lot of the popularity of his curvaceous figures attributed to Mae West. .. they appeared in the 1930s but was able to be fully crafted by the 1940s. We have this wasp waist and this very voluptuous female that it looks back to.
