Rushfeldt Log Cabin
This log house was built by Abshum Rusfeldt who was a native of Vasu Norway and came to America in 1869. He homesteaded in Section 10 Parke Township, Clay County, Minn. in 1871 where this log house was built. It was constructed of native white oak and later moved and reassembled at this site in 1979. The Homestead Act was a means of getting free land. It was enacted .. by Congress and President Abraham Lincoln. Before the Homestead Act could.. made free land available by .. preemption enacted 1891.
