In a marked contrast to the tiny music players up today, in the early days a radio was a large piece of furniture that held a place of importance in the family, living area, much less, modern televisions, and computers do.
The radio was the family's window to the outside world, bringing local, national, and worldwide news, plus, entertaining, serial, comedies and adventures, like TV shows except you had to use more imagination, and popular music.
