In the mid-1980s the 5th FIS converted to the F-15A 'Eagle'. The F-15s only flew over Minot until the spring of 1988, when the 5th FIS was inactivated. 5th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, "The Spittin' Kittens" active from 1960Ð1988 (F-106 and F-15) at the Minot (ND) AFB.
