Bald Eagle (Hactiaeetus leucocephallis) population reached an all time low in the 1970's due to DDT contamination. Their numbers are still low, around 13,000, but they have made an amazing comeback! When eagles hatch, their eyes are blue and will change to a yellow or golden color as they grow.
