The Bomb Bay in a B-17G 'Flying Fortress' a WW-II heavy bomber on display this week at the Fargo Air Museum. This B-17 is painted as quot;Sentimental Journeyquot;.

quot;Tokyo tankquot; shut-off valves are mounted below the door at aft end of bomb bay. (In some installations these valves are in the radio compartment.) A relief tube is located behind the dome light in the left bomb bay. The main gear retracts into the nacelles behind the inboard engines. Electrically operated retraction units, with auxiliary manual systems, are used for raising and lowering the main wheels. The emergency hand crank connections for operating the main landing gear are at the forward end of the bomb bay on each side of the doorway leading to the cockpit. -manual
