NDSU vs SIU 38 to 7 FCS Second Round Playoff Game. NDSU won the coin toss and deferred.
First Quarter SIU starts strong and moves the ball with RB #01 Romeir Elliott, but a False Start Penalty backs them up and they go Three-and-Out. NDSU's first drive ends with a QB #07 Cam Miller TD run. The first play was a 27-yard run by RB #22 TaMerik Williams. (NDSU Player of the game.) Cam also completed passes of 8 4 20 and 17 yards. SIU goes Three-and-Out. NDSU's second drive stays on the ground with FB #44 Hunter Luepke and Williams joined by QB #02 Quincy Patterson in the Wild-Cat. The Bison's drive stalls at the SIU 2-yard-line. Kicker #37 Jake Reinholz kicks a field goal. Second Quarter SIU QB #08 Nic Baker completes a 44-yard pass; followed by a 22-yard TD pass. NDSU answers with a TD of its own; staying mostly on the ground. The 'Salukis' can not stop the 'Bison' run game. Offensive Coordinator, Tyler Roehl keeps pounding the rock and chewing up the clock. SIU 123Punt. NDSU with runs of 3 7 7 7 8 10 5 6 5 5 yards TD. SIU 123Punt. NDSU RB #04 Kobe Johnson with a 14 yard run but then Miller burned up the clock running. (Poor clock management?) Third Quarter Johnson and Williams slash through the Salukis defense for another TD. SIU's first drive of the second half stalls at the NDSU 42. The Salukis are getting chippy and go after the Ref for a 15-yard penalty. NDSU stalls at the SIU 41. (NDSU is starting to sub players to save the starters and give the underclassmen experience.) Fourth Quarter Baker starts the drive with a 9-yard DT #53 Eli Mostaert sack and ends with a 4th and 4 Pass Breakup by LB #52 Jackson Hankey. This was great field position for NDSU but a bad throw by Miller gives the ball back to Baker at his 20. Baker moves the Salukis on the ground and in the air to the NDSU 25. But a 4th and 3 ends with a False Start and a 9-yard sack by DE #54 Jake Kava. RB #21 Jalen Bussey enters the game with fresh legs for NDSU and runs 5 17 6 and 1 yard. Patterson rips off a 32-yard TD run. SIU moves the ball well on their final drive but ran out of time at the NDSU 17.
