USN Commander Rob Field (#1 Commander/Leader), USN Lieutenant Todd Abrahamson (#2 Right Wing), USN Lieutenant Jerry Deren (#3 Left Wing), USN Lt. Commander Max McCoy (#4 Slot), and USN Lt. Commander Scott Kartvedt (#5 Lead Solo) perform the Line-Abreast Loop. The most difficult formation maneuver to do well. No.5 joins the diamond as the 5 jets fly a loop in a straight line.
Blue Angel #4 flies the F/A-18D 'Hornet' a two-seat trainer. The remaining aircraft are single seat F/A-18C models.
