Designed to meet a requirement of the USAF Military Airlift Command (MAC) the Lockheed C-141 Starlifter has a slow cruising speed of 495 mph, but can lift heavier loads out of shooter airstrips. 86,207 pound load, or 155 troops, 123 paratroops, or 80 stretchers and 16 attendants. Total production was 285 units.
