We parked the Boynton Pass road about half a mile from the Fay Canyon Trail car park. There were cars lined up on the road, so we assumed there was no spots further up. 'We're hiking anyway, what's another half mile.'
Tim headed into the brush as we came up on another trail. We question Tim, "is this the trailhead?" We seem to be wandering away from our destination.
We stop at the intersection of Aerie and Cockscomb trails. We check Apple Maps, and move back toward the road and the Fay Canyon trailhead.
