The initial powerplant selected for the single-engined F-16A 'Falcon' was the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200 afterburning turbofan, a modified version of the F-15's F100-PW-100, rated at 23,830 lbs thrust. The same powerplant used by the F-15; such commonality would lower the cost of engines for both programs
