1091.18a1 B-17G Flying Fortress tail, port side, vertical
This Boeing B-17G 'Flying Fortress' was accepted into service by the U.S. Army Air Corps on March 13, 1945 and was christened 44-85314. Although manufactured far too late to see service in the European theatre, this plane did fly briefly as an RB-17G in the Pacific, fitted as a platform for photo-mapping operations.85314 is one of only a handful of the B-17s still flying. And while her tail number has changed, and she has donned a more glamorous designation, "Sentimental Journey" still flies today (2015).
