Nose art on this B-17G features the iconic 1943 image of Betty Grable by photographer Frank Powolny. Below this nose art is the less famous photographer Craig Maas as photographed by the more famous photographer Bob Nelson.
The photo was used as a promotional shot for the movie "Sweet Rosie O'Grady". While American soldiers were overseas fighting World War II, they longed for something that reminded them of home. They chose this picture of Betty Grable. Some liked her sexy figure; others thought she reminded them of that ideal 'girl back home.'
