Lt. Col. Roger Disrud, of Olathe, KS., won the Air Force's '91 Worldwide Fighter Competition at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., He won the "Top Gun" award by defeating 54 other A-10, F-16, F-15, F-111 and A-7 pilots by one point in the closest margin in the competition's 14-year history. At 47, he also was the oldest pilot to win the award. And he was the first A-10 pilot to win.
