The backlight on my Dell Inspiron 6000 was failing. First I replaced the lamp driver. (Fluorescent ballast) Seen here in yellow. That wasn't the issue. But it was the least expense item and easyist access. The I bought a replacement lamp. I broke th eold one taking it out and the new one putting it in. So I got another. Kudo to the ebay seller for shipping them in pvc pipe, as they're crazy fragile. I got the second one in okay. However it was far from perfect and has hot and dark areas. If I had to do it again I think I could do a better job, but I don't want to risk breaking my third lamp. And when I released this Dell would turn 10 years old this summer I decided to buy another laptop to replace the Dell.
