NDSU vs JMU 20 to 14
The NDSU 'Bison' host the JMU 'Dukes' in the FCS Semi-Final Championship football game. JMU wins the coin toss and defers.
First Quarter
On their first drive, NDSU moves the ball in short chunks. But JMU gets a 4-yard sack of QB #07 Cam Miller, Cam throws an incomplete pass and the drive stalls on their 47. JMU goes Three-and-Out. Miller hits WR #11 Phoenix Sproles with passes of 10 and 9 yards before connecting with FB #44 Hunter Luepke on a 32-yard TD pass. JMU starts to move the ball, but DE #90 Tony Pierce sacks QB #12 Cole Johnson and a fumbled snap stalls the Dukes at their 32. Miller hits WR DJ Hart for 26 yards. Miller, Hunter, RB #22 TaMerik Williams, and QB #02 Quincy Patterson swap short runs before Kicker #37 Jake Reinholz kicks a field goal. NDSU 10, JMU 0
Second Quarter
JMU moves the ball down the field to the NDSU 33 but then Johnson is intercepted by Safety #02 Dawson Weber for a Touchback. NDSU can't move the ball: sack, no gain run, incomplete pass, punt. JMU does no better: incomplete, False Start, incomplete, 9-yard completion, punt. Luepke has a 37 yard run, and then the Bison settle into a rhythm: run pass run run run pass run pass run run pass run run run Reinholz field goal. Third Quarter
JMU made half-time adjustments. The Dukes move 80 yards on 13 plays; Johnson hits Antwane Wells for a 13-yard TD. Miller can't connect with WR #17 RaJa Nelson and NDSU goes Three-and-Out. DE #54 Jake Kava ruins JMU's next drive with a sack and a TFL. Two incomplete passes stall the NDSU drive at their 44. RB #04 Kobe Johnson is injured on a play. The punt is blocked. JMU uses the short field and scores a Touchdown to take the lead. NDSU 13 JMU 14
Fourth Quarter
Luepke runs and then catches Miller's 22-yard TD pass. Reinholz boots the extra point after a Delay of Game penalty ruin's Head Coach, Matt Entz's 2-point conversion call. JMU is moving the ball through the air until Johnson is sacked by Pierce again; their drive stalls at the NDSU 36. JMU Punter Harry O'Kelly was able to pin NDSU on their 2-yard line. Luepke was able to run six times, but the Bison drive stalls at their 37. JMU starts their next drive hot with a 17 yard run. Then they're called for their fourth False Start (it's playoff loud in the Fargodome tonight.) Johnson is sacked but a Face Mask penalty gives the Dukes 15 yards and a First Down. Johnson throws his way down to the NDSU 11. NDSU brings pressure, Johnson throws it away, but CB #06 Destin Talbert jumps high and comes down with an interception in the endzone. The dome explodes, as does the Bison sidelines. Luepke and Williams try to run out the clock but the Bison drive stalls at their 28. The Bison defense saves the game again: with a QB Hurry, a sack by DT #58 Javier Derritt, and a Pass Break Up by DE #93 Logan McCormick. JMU's playoff hopes die on the NDSU 45. The Bison are going to Frisco, TX - but first the players race across the field and climb the railing to celebrate with the student section as "If You Wanna Play In Texas" plays on the PA.
