Tanuki (Nyctereutes procyonoides)
Tanuki, also known as raccoon dogs, are a canid that looks very similar to a raccoon, exhibiting similar markings & body structure. Unlike most members of the dog family, raccoon dogs are able to climb and they are the only canid with the ability to hibernate. Valued for its fur, which is dense and soft, this species has been bred in many countries- the wooded regions of southeastern Siberia, Manchuria, northern Indo-China, China & Japan.
