Andrew: This my great-grandfather's 1914 wedding suit. This was the fashion of the day these striped pants. About the middle of the 19th Century, about 1850 or so, all the colors started to go out of mens clothing. Things become more muted: black, grays, charcoal, dark brown, so by the turn of the 20th century men were wearing black, grays, charcoal, and dark brown- like this. This is very fancy suit it has full buttons on this vest, so what they didn't have in color they made up for in quality of fabrics. Can you see how the light sets off the different weaves on the vest. As is the stitching on the edge of the coat.
