Shanley 36, Beulah 6
The North Dakota 2A Semi-final play off game Kick Off was at 4 PM. It was a cool 40-degrees with a West wind at 15 mph dropping to 8 mph as the game progressed. The wind wasn't a factor.
There was more fan support today as the weather was nicer than last Saturday. More fans from Beulah showed up. The crowd was vocal; so it was a fun game to watch and photograph.
Beulah fell behind by three touchdowns; then late in the second quarter, the 'Miners' scored on the 'old Hook & Ladder' play. The Beulah fan section exploded. Momentum switched in their favor. Another long completion and it looked like they were about to score, but Tre Fort got an easy interception to finish the half, with the 'Deacons' up 21 to 6. The 'Deacons' continued to play their style of fast disciplined football. The 'Miners' were forced to go to the air again leading to another interception. This time by Zach Burd. Zach had a good game with 62 yards on the ground. Danny Stasch had a great game with 112 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. Kelvin Caga had a standout game with two catches both for touchdowns. A third pass bounced off the helmet of the Beulah player who was covering him- if not for that Kelvin would have had three touchdown catches. By the fourth quarter, Coach Oksendahl had retired the starters and Sean got to play offense and defense. Even the freshman got snaps.
The Deacons look strong going into the 2A Championship next Friday at the Grand Forks Alerus Center against their rivals: Bismarck St Marys.

Note: I wrote photo captions first, so some players may have been edited out.
